Anxiety therapy

Anxiety becomes a problem when it starts steering everyday decisions: what you avoid, what you turn over at night, what you stop trying. In therapy we look at what keeps the anxiety cycle going, and build, step by step, ways of responding that give you more room to move.

What therapy can help with

  • Generalized anxiety and chronic worry
  • Panic attacks and panic disorder
  • Social anxiety and fear in situations with others
  • Health anxiety
  • Specific fears and avoidance that narrows daily life

How we work together

I work with approaches grounded in research. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps you recognize and rework anxious thinking and patterns of avoidance. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) builds room for difficult feelings while you act on what matters to you. Mindfulness-based approaches (MBCT) support stepping out of spirals of thought. We set the pace together and review progress every few weeks.

The effectiveness of CBT and ACT for anxiety is summarized by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the American Psychological Association (APA).
